Shenzhen has thus become the second city in China to start parallel imports of cars after Shanghai.
It is understood that the parallel import vehicle pilot project in Shenzhen will mainly rely on the advantages of Qianhai location, focus on changing the existing automobile import distribution model, explore a new automobile circulation service model, and accelerate the integration of related industries.
With the official launch of the parallel import vehicle pilot project in Shenzhen, China has formed two pilot areas for parallel imports of automobiles in East China and South China. On January 7 this year, Shanghai issued the "Notice on the Pilot Project of Parallel Imported Cars in the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone", officially launched a parallel import vehicle pilot in the free trade zone, and issued a pilot application for parallel import of automobiles. The threshold includes satisfying the sales business of automobiles for more than 5 years, the profit for three consecutive years, and the sales of automobiles exceeding RMB 400 million.
Compared with the parallel auto pilot in the Shanghai Free Trade Zone, Shenzhen will accelerate the organization and implementation of the pilot work. With the Internet of Things and Internet technology, we will establish a platform operation mode integrating transaction, service, security and management, and strive to reform supervision. Pilot results that can be promoted and replicated in the form and guarantee of after-sales service.
“The parallel import vehicle policy is a powerful measure for the country to expand its openness and promote foreign cooperation. Through this policy, consumers can buy their favorite cars without dealers. The policy or the price of imported car products is based on the existing basis. Reduced by 20%." Chen Guangzu, a famous automobile expert, said in an exclusive interview with People's Daily.
In addition to the reduction in the price of the car, consumers directly benefit. Chen Guangzu believes that at present, the phenomenon of “small illnesses and overhauls, layer-by-layer underwriting, for making money rather than serving” is widespread in automobile 4S stores. The emergence of the parallel imported car, a car direct sales model, will effectively improve the service quality of the 4S shop.
“Parallel import” means that other importers import directly from the origin of the product, except for the general distributor, and their import channels are parallel to the domestic authorized distribution channels. In the Pilot Free Trade Zone pilot project, the auto dealers registered in the Pilot Free Trade Zone are engaged in the import of foreign autos through the import license of the Ministry of Commerce.
