March 3, Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding COSCO 14500TEU new office container ship with Wärtsilä generating sets AUXPAC 32 contract signing ceremony was held in Shanghai. Twenty Wärtsilä Auxpac 32 generator sets will serve five COSCO 14500TEU container ships, and the first wholesale motor unit will be delivered in mid-2016.
      It is reported that this order was successfully signed in January 2015 by Wärtsilä Yuchai Engine Co., Ltd. (WYEC), a joint venture of Wärtsilä. Wärtsilä Yuchai Engine Co., Ltd. is a joint venture established by Wärtsilä Group and Yuchai Marine Power Co., Ltd. at the end of 2012. It was officially put into production in mid-2014. The transaction was also the first generator set order reached after the formation of Wärtsilä Yuchai Engine Co., Ltd.
      The Wärtsilä Auxpac 32 is a proven auxiliary engine model in the Wärtsilä 32 series. Across the world, more than 1,200 engines are in operation. As the most powerful Auxpac generator set for Wärtsilä, Auxpac 32 targets the high-end merchant shipping market, especially for large container ships that require 2500 kWe to 4500 kWe of auxiliary power per generator set. This powerful output capability combined with a compact design gives it an excellent power/space ratio, which gives it a high level of attention and recognition in the market.

The joint venture in Zhuhai, Guangdong Province, China, follows the plan of the Chinese central government to significantly increase the local manufacturing content of marine equipment. The Wärtsilä Auxpac 32 generator will be a joint venture at Wärtsilä Yuchai Engine Co., Ltd. Production is carried out in the factory.
