May Toyota and Honda Motors Global Production Drop Nearly Half

Japan’s number one car company, Toyota Motor Corp., released data showing that in May 2011, the company’s global vehicle production fell by 49.3% year-on-year to 287,800. Among them, Toyota's domestic production in Japan was 107,400 units, a decrease of 54.4%, and the decrease was lower than the 78.4% decline in April. In addition, Toyota's overseas production was 180,400 units, a decrease of 45.8%.

Honda Motor Co. said that its car production in the world in May fell 50.4% year-on-year to 137,900 vehicles. Honda Motor's overseas production in May fell by 50.6% to 103,100 units. Japan's domestic vehicle production fell by 53.4% ​​to 34,700 vehicles.

In addition to Honda Motor Co., Honda Motor Co., automakers such as Mazda, Suzuki and Fuji Heavy Industries also experienced declines in global vehicle production during the same period, while Nissan Motor Co. and Mitsubishi Motors Corp.’s auto production increased year-on-year.
