Influence of Farmland Water Level Regulation on Soil Temperature

Soil water and heat are two important fertility factors of the soil. The two are related to each other and restrict each other. In agricultural production, such measures as “heating with water” can be used to improve the growth environment of crops. Soil thermal conditions affect all aspects of agricultural production, such as seed germination, water evaporation, and heat transfer. The soil temperature is a measure of the soil calorie status, and its change has a certain regularity. Among them, we can use a multi-point soil temperature and humidity recorder to measure the soil moisture and soil temperature, respectively, to analyze the relationship between the two.

1. The influence of farmland water level regulation on the diurnal variation of soil temperature at 5cm is more significant. The average daily soil temperature under drought treatment in each test treatment was similar to the control treatment, but the daily maximum soil temperature and temperature difference between day and night were significantly higher, 1.85°C and 2.73°C higher than the control treatment, respectively. The average daily soil temperature during flooding treatment was slightly higher than that of the control treatment, but the daily maximum soil temperature and day-night temperature difference decreased. Therefore, the rice is properly treated with drought during its growth, which can regulate soil temperature, increase temperature difference, and promote plant growth.

2. Under the effect of farmland water level control on the soil temperature accumulation of deep soil, the daily average temperature of 20 cm and 40 cm soil layers in flooding treatment was 19.15°C and 18.95°C, respectively, 0.29°C and 0.16°C higher than the control treatment. The daily average temperature of 20 cm soil layer treated with drought was similar to that of the control treatment, while the 40 cm soil layer was decreased by 0.24°C.

3. The vertical change of soil temperature is also affected by the weather. On sunny days, the average soil temperature decreases along the depth, while the rainy days increase along the depth.

The above data results were recorded by a soil temperature and humidity recorder over a period of time, and the corresponding data were obtained. From this we can see that in terms of soil temperature regulation, we can use a certain amount of farmland water level control.
