Abdolhossein Bayat, Iran's general manager of the National Petrochemical Company and Iran's Deputy Minister of Petroleum, said in Tehran recently that Iran plans to increase its petrochemical output by more than 5 million tons in the Iranian calendar year ending on March 20 next year. The official said that Iran 69 new petrochemical projects have been designed and implemented. The current petrochemical capacity is 55 million tons/year and it is planned to increase the production capacity to 100 million tons/year by 2015. Despite sanctions imposed by the European Union, Iran’s exports of petrochemical products have not decreased.
