The magnetic separator barrel is made of stainless steel plate of 3 to 4 mm thick. If there is no protective layer (also called wear layer) on the surface of the barrel, it will wear out and will not be used. That is, it affects production and increases equipment maintenance costs. Therefore, the magnetic separator barrel should be protected by a protective layer. The existing magnetic separator barrel wear layer protection materials are as follows:

1) Vulcanized rubber skin. The high-quality wear-resistant rubber is selected and wrapped on the barrel according to the length and diameter of the barrel, and the thickness is about 1 to 3 mm. This material is wear resistant and has a long life but at a high cost.

2) Apply epoxy layer. This method is more complicated to use and is therefore not widely used.

3) cylindrical sheath of copper wire or aluminum wire wrapped, at present, some scrap processing plant using a wire wound cylindrical layer of leather wear, better, cost is not high.

4) The barrel is sprayed with asphalt . This method is simple and easy, the cost is extremely low, and the effect is also very good. When spraying, the surface thickness must be uniform to prevent uneven thickness and affect the uneven magnetic field strength.
