Over the past five years, the more than 90 billion cosmic rays that AMS has collected on the International Space Station have clearly identified 300 million proton events, 16.5 million electronic events, 1.08 million positron events, and 349,000 anti-proton events. There are as many as 2,200 incidents above 100 million electron volts, and a large number of heavy nuclear (up to iron) incidents. The latest results of AMS include measured positron ratios, antiproton-proton ratios, and flow intensities of electrons, positrons, protons, antiprotons, deuterons, and other nuclei, all published in Physics Review Letters, a top journal in physics. These results provide accurate and unexpected information, advance human understanding of the generation, acceleration, and propagation of cosmic rays and provide important evidence for the detection of dark matter. Particularly rare, the AMS detector detected a small number of suspected counter-terrorism events with one-billionth of the measurement accuracy, enabling humans to see the dawn of anti-matter universe exploration.
These raw cosmic-ray data must be able to obtain unprecedented analysis accuracy through near-real-time efficient data processing and further data analysis to accurately measure cosmic rays. Prof. Luo Junzhou introduced that Southeast University joined the AMS experiment in 2002 and built the most important data processing and analysis center for AMS experiments in Asia and even in the world. It successfully used the latest computer technologies such as cloud computing and big data to solve AMS mass data. A series of key technical issues faced in the processing and analysis to ensure that the AMS scientific data can be processed and analyzed in near real time at Southeast University. Over the past five years, the total amount of data processing and analysis at the Southeast University AMS Data Processing Center exceeded 970 TB, with a cumulative contribution of more than 54 million CPU hours.
